00:00:12

Welcome back to the MUstaSH ROOM.

00:00:14

It's been a bit.

00:00:15

It's been since May had a baby, so every really good excuse, but we're back and that's all that counts.

00:00:21

On this episode we discuss our time at the Telluride Mushroom Festival, the 41st annual, with the brand new baby.

00:00:27

We discussed the new show on Hulu 9 perfect strangers.

00:00:31

We get a visit from Andrew and Felix talking about Trichoderma and how it can ruin your entire cultivation operation.

00:00:38

We debut a new song.

00:00:39

We're no longer singing about our cap, but rather.

00:00:41

Our baby and I have a poem about the military that I think you'll like.

00:00:45

Thank you so much for tuning in.

00:00:47

We're sponsored by MUSTASH BRANDS. You can find us. Onlinemustacheroom.com MUstaSH is always spelled MUSTASH. Thanks for being here. Enjoy.

00:00:59

You know, every once in a while I like to grab my favorite quill, pen, some parchment paper draw for my years of calligraphy experience and write down some thoughts.

00:01:06

Then I transfer it to something digital because paper is wasteful and stupid and read them to.

00:01:10

You guys, you're welcome.

00:01:12

Listen to the poem I just wrote.

00:01:15

Confirm my feelings and hurt my feelings.

00:01:19

With the death of Colon Powell, it's a stark reminder of the Iraq war and how we lost a lot of soldiers because of some misinformation.

00:01:27

And although I always support the soldiers unconditionally, I don't necessarily always support the conflict.

00:01:33

This poem is called breach of contract.

00:01:36

You volunteered to serve and protect the country you loved and used to respect.

00:01:40

Put your life on the line without hesitation.

00:01:43

Patriotism was your motivation when they asked you to go where others had died.

00:01:48

You went, fought, and perished, never once asked him why, for that was the contract you willingly signed.

00:01:54

Unaware of our countries crossed fingers behind, we took a little hiatus as I like to call it apostrophe eternity leave.

00:02:02

Eternity leave.

00:02:03

Attorney leave like Tegrity farms maternity leave.

00:02:05

Yeah altegrity it's great great episode.

00:02:07

Yeah, South Park they.

00:02:08

Bought Casa Bonita I believe like $3.1 million.

00:02:11

Yeah, which we've never been.

00:02:14

Which I mean, it's not like there's tons of stuff for us there.

00:02:19

I mean, is it?

00:02:19

Wasn't it like a?

00:02:20

Failing business there.

00:02:21

For a while, well, I think it's a restaurant with.

00:02:27

With like.

00:02:28

A pool or a lake or something inside of it.

00:02:31

And like people would dive into it.

00:02:34

So it's like dinner theater.

00:02:35

Oh **** see.

00:02:36

I guess I figured they embellished significantly in the cartoon and and if they had to swoop in and like save the business.

00:02:43

I wasn't too high on the prospect, but I guess I didn't do my research.

00:02:47

Yeah, I think.

00:02:48

I saw when they mentioned it was for.

00:02:49

Dale and I looked it up and and yeah, I was like oh it's something like that.

00:02:55

Are you curious if we were contenders like to move enough in the bank to buy Casa Bonita?

00:02:57

What do you mean?

00:03:00

Oh no, no.

00:03:01

No, that would we'd have to discuss that one.

00:03:03

That would be a a big leap.

00:03:05

No, I'm curious to see what they do with it.

00:03:08

It's going to be like a shrine to South Park I would imagine.

00:03:11

Which would be fantastic, I mean.

00:03:12

Yeah, it's not that far.

00:03:15

Alright, well if they do, if.

00:03:16

They do what we hope they do.

00:03:18

Then we'll definitely make.

00:03:18

A check out there to make it happen.

00:03:19

OK, well it's let me it's like 15 minutes.

00:03:21

It's not a trick.

00:03:22

Fifty oh OK.

00:03:23

So we'll just hop on a scooter and take an extended track.

00:03:27

With the baby strapped on.

00:03:28

Oh, by the way, yes we have a beautiful baby.

00:03:31

We talked about the the pre baby stuff leading up to our last podcast which is in May.

00:03:38

It's been like 5 months.

00:03:39

Oh my gosh.

00:03:40

Nonetheless, we have a healthy, happy baby girl.

00:03:43

She's four months.

00:03:44

She's a little ****** She is.

00:03:46

She kind of came in earlier than we anticipated, but healthy and she is just everything we've ever wanted.

00:03:54

Beautiful, she's got her mother knows.

00:03:56

Thank God and we just could not be happier.

00:03:58

So I apologize for the hiatus, but trust me, it was for good reason and we're back from Ternity leave eternity, eternity. We got a new podcast studio podcast studio 2.0, a new MUstaSHroom, if you will.

00:04:11

This is our first time recording in this.

00:04:12

In this new studio, oh, it's a.

00:04:14

Lot of firsts.

00:04:14

A lot of first, I feel like this studio's got everything we need. This is a very scalable plush studio.

00:04:22

It's beautiful, you have a lot of space.

00:04:24

It's a great lighting.

00:04:26

It's very nice.

00:04:27

All right, you're welcome.

00:04:28

So there's a silent MC which could change at any moment.

00:04:31

Now there was there was like a quiet meal.

00:04:31

As you know all.

00:04:33

There is a background there.

00:04:34

Didn't even hear that it was muffled.

00:04:36

A muffled MC.

00:04:37

We'd like to keep it that way.

00:04:39

Trust me, he's not being held down under.

00:04:41

A pillow or anything like that.

00:04:43

All those some days we probably would.

00:04:45

If it was now anyways, one of the things we did since we spoke last is we attended the Telluride Mushroom Festival.

00:04:53

Telluride Mushroom festival

00:04:53

We did.

00:04:56

Yeah that was what mid March and it was Becker's first.

00:05:00

And when I say in March, August, this momma is sleep deprived and tired and she's drinking glass of wine 'cause the babies down.

00:05:11

So please forgive.

00:05:12

It was mid August.

00:05:14

OK.

00:05:15

Forgiven for your eternity mishap.

00:05:17

It was eternity mishap.

00:05:18

I've gotta ease mentally back into this.

00:05:21

And if anyone has seen fantastic funghi.

00:05:24

There were a lot of recognizable faces from that movie The director was there.

00:05:30

Yeah Louie Schwartzberg, I believe is his name.

00:05:33

Yeah, and then and then the the woman.

00:05:36

The woman from South America.

00:05:38

Yeah, Juliana Furche was the keynote speaker.

00:05:41

She's from Chile and she's done some amazing things with trying to get funky and people call it.

00:05:48

People use different pronunciations.

00:05:50

I use funguy.

00:05:51

Some people say fungi, so please don't be discouraged if you use it the wrong way.

00:05:56

But with funky she's actually getting it.

00:05:58

Recognized as within the same realm of conservation as.

00:06:03

Fauna and Flora, which are animals and plants respectively.

00:06:08

When you have conservation efforts and things around the globe, they focus on the plants they focus on the animals, but they don't focus on the mycelium and the fungus underneath, so she's actually getting it to be recognized more widely.

00:06:23

And incorporated into their conservation efforts, which is awesome.

00:06:26

And I think that comes because I would say up until about a year ago I would have thought mushrooms fell underneath the plant category.

00:06:35

OK.

00:06:36

I don't think that the majority knows that it's its own genus and that it's its own Kingdom, so I think education is probably the biggest part of that when it comes to you know, protecting and protecting those their rights if you will, and the conservative conservatorships.

00:06:55

Conservation, that's it.

00:06:56

Yeah yeah, I mean Flora, fauna, fungus.

00:06:59

OK, yeah.

00:07:00

So it's it's the Kingdom of fungi.

00:07:03

It during the Telluride Mushroom Festival parade, which was a bunch of bunch of really interesting people, very flamboyant and their love for mushrooms in all different facets.

00:07:06

Ah yes.

00:07:12

A lot of costumes.

00:07:13

A lot of.

00:07:14

A guy I happened to notice from across the way I was on the opposite side of the road.

00:07:20

Rashad Evans

00:07:21

Fanboy you or just fanboying.

00:07:24

As a UFC fan and a very low level mixed martial artist jujitsu beginner practitioner, I happen to to know when I see a rush Rashad Evans and never will.

00:07:35

Yeah, I mean, I think you asked like three or four times.

00:07:38

Can I go see hi now can I go say hi now look no sit down.

00:07:43

Nobody, nobody else recognized.

00:07:44

I mean clearly if people knew who that was, they would be getting closer trying to get some photos or whatever.

00:07:50

Or maybe that's just me, and so nobody was around him and I was like listen.

00:07:53

Here's my opportunity.

00:07:55

He's not being swarmed with fans.

00:07:57

And I went over.

00:07:58

He was really cool.

00:07:59

We took a picture and made it to Instagram.

00:08:01

Yeah, and I would. I do want to point out that the Telluride Mushroom Festival, even though it's been around for 41 years, the community is really small and if you are interested in getting in this space, don't think that you're behind the 8 ball. I mean, there's plenty of opportunity.

00:08:19

Ready to spread your wings and be a contributor and you know definitely check it out next year and and see if it's something that you're really passionate about.

00:08:28

Yeah, it was a good experience since English odd, you know that really was special for me.

00:08:32

We got to do some good hiking.

00:08:34

We took the baby for the first time out in the open to the mountains and stuff so for her was novel and just an all around good experience. We'll be there for the 42nd as well.

00:08:45

Yeah, we'll be there every year.

00:08:47

Every single year we've been watching this show, the nine perfect strangers on Hulu.

00:08:52

Yeah, I'm.

00:08:54

It's by Liane Moriarty is the author.

00:08:59

And she's had well.

00:08:59

What does that mean?

00:09:01

So she also wrote big Little Lies, which was an HBO show.

00:09:06

That's the one you watched.

00:09:07

Yeah, I've actually read a few of her books and I am proud to say that I read the book before it was even made into a movie like a TV series.

00:09:17

And that never happens.

00:09:18

'cause I'm not a reader.

00:09:19

So the 2nd that big little lies came out and I'm like I already know what happens, uhm?

00:09:20

Speaking of nerds.

00:09:26

Speaking of nerds, nobody is nerdier than the person that boasts about reading the book.

00:09:31

And not needing to watch the movie.

00:09:32

I just lose the first time it's ever happened to me and I'll be honest, it felt good.

00:09:35

And you lean into it good, hey?

00:09:36

It felt good.

00:09:38

Pat yourself on the back.

00:09:39

So big are nine perfect strangers.

00:09:42

I actually bought the book.

00:09:44

I just hadn't read it.

00:09:45

So then they made it into the movie or the the limited series and so now I kind of want to go back, but I have zero time.

00:09:53

You can't brag about that.

00:09:54

You can't brag about watching the show and then going, yeah?

00:09:54

No, I mean.

00:09:55

I I purchased it first.

00:09:57

But no one I can't, it doesn't count.

00:09:58

Give you a receipt, you know, share your receipt.

00:10:01

I I could if I would.

00:10:02

Yeah, well I should have thought that through.

00:10:03

It's probably an audible actually, but anyways, yes and Nicole Kidman's in it. Melissa McCarthy.

00:10:10

And it's about 9 strangers going to this Wellness Center that's ran by Masha.

00:10:17

Let's let's not give away any.

00:10:19

Spoilers by the way, OK.

00:10:19

We won't come.

00:10:21

Who is Nicole Kidman?

00:10:22

Stretchy face

00:10:22

And she hand selects these nine perfect strangers and essentially doses them with some psychedelics for her therapy without them knowing.

00:10:35

Yeah, which is.

00:10:38

Which, yeah, we would not condone.

00:10:40

I I know the 2nd that they unveiled that mushrooms or psilocybin was a part of it.

00:10:47

You immediately was like this is going to hurt our cause.

00:10:52

Yeah, well nobody.

00:10:53

I mean, first of all, she is essentially a guru.

00:10:56

Which guru is not a.

00:10:59

That's that's not a good term in the psychedelic community.

00:11:03

I mean, it's it's more of an authoritative role, and so the fact that she's a guru, and the fact that she's dosing people without their knowledge.

00:11:12

And the fact that she's putting together these cocktails of psychedelics and dosing them repeatedly.

00:11:18

It's just it's it's a recipe in my opinion for disaster so.

00:11:22

And mixing drugs, 'cause it's that's not the only drug.

00:11:25

Yeah, it was what?

00:11:25

And then.

00:11:26

LSD, DMT and psilocybin were the three that she mentioned in the cocktail.

00:11:31

And then was ecstasy was one for that other OK?

00:11:34

MDMA, yeah?

00:11:37

Yeah, yeah, so I just remember watching it.

00:11:41

You just kind of had this this keen eye.

00:11:44

Or like the sudden setting isn't right.

00:11:47

Again, there we go back to the nerddom yes.

00:11:51

And people really need.

00:11:52

To know what they're getting into.

00:11:53

So yeah, she stepped over the line a little bit in.

00:11:57

That titias role.

00:11:57

Yeah, I know, I know.

00:11:59

I just saw that you worry because you know you're such an advocate for this space and you know this is a mainstream show with famous people in it and a lot of marketing and you just don't want it to dilute.

00:12:12

Any positive?

00:12:15

Some change that can come out of it, but I had several girlfriends and they're like hey, are you guys watching this show just because they know it's of interest to us?

00:12:24

Yeah, I mean the there was there were a lot of good things about the show.

00:12:28

I mean, people really had true healing experiences.

00:12:32

Yeah they did.

00:12:33

They had life altering experiences.

00:12:35

They there were people that came out a lot better on the other side.

00:12:39

So those are all the good things that come with psilocybin and other psychedelics.

00:12:43

But there's also a lot of lot of turmoil and a lot of mistrust, and a lot of anxiety and uncertainty.

00:12:52

It comes with really not being.

00:12:55

Hold every step of the way with what's going on, not being guided properly.

00:13:00

So this the the holding space concept where you sit with somebody that really wasn't employed properly.

00:13:06

Yeah, I mean it was entertaining, yeah, and so I recommend you know watching it but.

00:13:11

Oh yeah, I don't want to discourage anybody from watching it, but just my nerdy, you know opinion.

00:13:16

My non professional nerdy opinion.

00:13:18

Yeah, and and pick up any books by this.

00:13:20

Author, she's great.

00:13:21

Yeah, and make sure if you read the book first you let everyone know about it.

00:13:25

Let absolutely anyone you come in contact know that you read the book.

00:13:29

And so you're the OG.

00:13:31

You're the hipster when it comes to that particular you.

00:13:34

Just wait the second it happens to you.

00:13:37

You'll do the same.

00:13:39

So if the if the your psilocybin mushroom companion by Michelle Jana came which is or I'm sorry Janicki and which is freaking awesome when that becomes a movie, I'll be like holy **** I was the first to read your psilocybin mushroom companion by Michelle Jenneke in and Genic Genic Ian.

00:13:55

Yep, Yep that's you.

00:13:58

Just wait.

00:13:58

Yeah, well, I'll be first in line to brag about that.

00:14:01

When it does happen.

00:14:02

Until then, continue on your path of finding ways to.

00:14:05

You assert yourself as more intelligent than the other people that are watching a movie.

00:14:11

I love your show.

00:14:12

Yeah, I also wanted to chat about the mushroom course that I'm teaching on October.

00:14:18

Yeah, this is very exciting.

00:14:20

I agree on October 16th at the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Studio Dark Horse in Denver.

00:14:26

I'm going to be teaching a four hour course on mushroom cultivation and consumption.

00:14:33

The title of the course is entheogenic mushrooms cultivation to consumption, how to effectively harvest and employ funguy as medicine for the psyche.

00:14:43

That's a great title.

00:14:44

Queue and so it's four hours.

00:14:47

I mean, you know I want I have a certain number of topics I want to cover, and it may not take the full hours depending on how quickly we go through the topics, but I really want to teach people soup to nuts start to finish.

00:15:00

How to cultivate mushrooms, how to consume mushrooms.

00:15:04

Responsibly, how to integrate after they consume mushrooms and basically use it as a sustained therapy mechanism to expand their consciousness and grow.

00:15:15

That's amazing.

00:15:16

Yeah, and so people.

00:15:19

Jiu jitsu practitioners specifically are very open to cannabis and psychedelics.

00:15:25

And like things, mind altering, mind expanding opportunities and so it's a good a good environment too.

00:15:34

Foster this sort of conversation.

00:15:36

'cause isn't like jiu jitsu, very like cerebral.

00:15:39

Yeah there is.

00:15:40

Able and you know, people definitely like to explore other realms of their mind with things like this.

00:15:47

Yeah, I mean I don't know that there's anything else out there like this.

00:15:53

So this is going to be extremely educational and valuable for anyone that attends.

00:15:58

Thank you yeah, and it's something I feel that marries very nicely with physical fitness, so you know gyms, CrossFit, you know, people that are really trying to to harness their physical capabilities and and really get every little bit of.

00:16:13

Of of every little squeeze, every bit out of their muscles, you know they may want to look to get a little bit more out of their psyche and a little bit more into their consciousness.

00:16:22

And so if you can marry the two, I think they come together nicely.

00:16:25

Well, yeah, and I think people forget that you have to work on your mental health.

00:16:30

You know your brain is just as much of a muscle.

00:16:34

That's the rest of your body and you gotta strengthen it up so you know, if you're thinking you're going to run a marathon and just go out there and you know, run 26 miles without training. Think of that as, oh, I'm going to try to meditate for an entire day. It's just impossible.

00:16:50

It's a really.

00:16:51

It's a really good way to put it.

00:16:52

Yeah, you have to start off in increments and you have to build up the endurance.

00:16:57

You have to build up the string.

00:16:58

18th and then you can add in different types of workouts.

00:17:02

You know what that, whether it be employing imploring, psychedelics to this space, or you know, deep meditation or yoga, but you have to.

00:17:14

You have to, you know, strengthen your brain if you want to, you know, have more.

00:17:18

Control over it.

00:17:19

Yeah, that's a really good point and I don't go over meditation in this course.

00:17:24

However, I will emphasize the importance of meditation to really get the most out of your psychedelic experiences.

00:17:30

Just to be able to navigate your brand space a little bit more effectively.

00:17:33

Yeah no, that's great and this is the first of many I mean.

00:17:36

This is the introductory course.

00:17:38

Uh pilot?

00:17:38

Kind of a pilot, yeah?

00:17:40

Yeah pilot episode and anyone out there listening that doesn't live locally I'm.

00:17:46

I'm sure at some point you can, you know broadcast this.

00:17:51

Either on a recorded version or even just a live video call.

00:17:55

Oh yeah, there's the the market are in there.

00:17:57

I like it always, always be closing.

00:17:59

Mean my blood.

00:18:02

So yeah, I'm looking forward.

00:18:03

I'll definitely, you know, get a bunch of documentation from the experience.

00:18:07

I will start using social media more now that we're post ternity or we're we're in the ternity mode.

00:18:13

Boo, I appreciate you being on here and not just for snippet not just to tell us about one mushroom.

00:18:19

Oh, one thing I did want to talk about real quick before I let you go is and I just want high level like 50,000 feet.

00:18:25

Overview I I want to have a lead into another conversation where we're going to talk about the relationship between the microbiome.

00:18:33

And your psyche just give us a little taste of what's to come.

00:18:37

Just give us a.

00:18:38

Little taste, your gut is essentially your body second brain, so you have your brain in your head and your gut is.

00:18:48

Another brain, essentially, that secretes valuable hormones and it tells your body.

00:18:55

How you're feeling how you're doing.

00:18:57

I'm sure that if anyone out there has, you know eating really crappy food or a lot of sugar and stuff they feel like **** well, that's your that's your body.

00:19:07

It's not just your mind playing tricks on you.

00:19:10

You have hormones that are secreted or inhibited.

00:19:15

By the activities in your gut so.

00:19:19

For instance, serotonin, that's you have two types of serotonin in your body, one that is secreted from your gut and one that's secreted from your brain.

00:19:28

So adding in mushrooms.

00:19:32

Increases the population of bacteria.

00:19:38

Healthy bacteria in your gut.

00:19:40

A healthy microbiome, and therefore can support.

00:19:43

Uh, a better feeling overall.

00:19:46

Yeah, so two points that I just want to emphasize and we can elaborate this on elaborate on this in a further episode, but you could be depressed because of the **** that you're eating the microbiome.

00:19:57

And because of your food, yeah.

00:19:58

So pay attention to that and also mushrooms.

00:20:02

Holyshit mushrooms help the biotics or whatever the mushrooms.

00:20:06

Mushrooms are prebiotics, so they're food for the bacteria in your gut.

00:20:11

So yeah, they keep your gut happy.

00:20:13

They keep your gut healthy and the more diverse.

00:20:17

Your gut microbiome can be the better, and that's just by eating.

00:20:21

Bring variety of foods, all different types of vegetables consuming different types of fiber, yeah.

00:20:29

Nice and what does your poo look like with a fully healthy microbiome?

00:20:35

Your poo should be first of all the bathroom.

00:20:39

It should take a minute to poo.

00:20:40

It should not take a long time.

00:20:42

Hey, speak, speak for yourself I've got.

00:20:42

It should be.

00:20:45

I'm Speaking of a healthy.

00:20:46

I've got a forest.

00:20:47

I'm not asking about you.

00:20:47

I've got a forest and trees in in my ******** area that I have to deal with.

00:20:52

I'm not talking about the wipe edge, I'm talking about the exits, the exit strategy.

00:20:54

OK, as you were.

00:20:56

Gee, yeah, I mean it should be firm.

00:21:01

It shouldn't.

00:21:01

You shouldn't have to strain.

00:21:03

I wouldn't say firm firm it should be soft firm.

00:21:06

OK.

00:21:06

Uhm, should.

00:21:07

You shouldn't.

00:21:08

You shouldn't be breaking any blood vessels in your forehead trying to.

00:21:11

Push it out OK.

00:21:11

No, otherwise you need more water and then if it's too loose, eat more fiber.

00:21:13

OK, this is all good.

00:21:17

OK.

00:21:18

Uhm, or there could be other issues as well, but.

00:21:22

Well, nice, I don't want to give away too much more button.

00:21:24

I see you're out of wine Boo so OK and you're tired and moved here which could really alter the dynamic of this project.

00:21:26

I'm tired.

00:21:32

He just put my foot.

00:21:33

You just paid OK, that's that's new. Sign that it's time to go and so glad we're back podcast Studio 2.0 podcast studio 2.1 will be kink free.

00:21:47

And now a mushroom cultivation update with the prodigy Andrew.

00:21:52

I was voted Mr Fungus.

00:21:54

This guy knows fungus.

00:21:57

Trish or trichoderma.

00:22:00

All call it Trish so basically it's like your common household green mold.

00:22:01

OK.

00:22:05

That grows on top of the mycelium, yeah?

00:22:07

Exactly it it usually competes for space with it and it starts out white so it looks promising at first.

00:22:11

OK.

00:22:14

Like you're getting a bunch of mycelium.

00:22:15

Growth within a day it'll turn straight green and it grows quick and spreads very easily.

00:22:21

Yeah, and so that killed probably four or five of my tubs.

00:22:25

You know, if you read.

00:22:26

About it on, you know, shroomery.

00:22:28

Or wherever it can kill your grow rooms and.

00:22:30

That's like a lot of people.

00:22:32

Well, if they're if they're not careful, once it starts growing up, you have to kind of get it.

00:22:37

Nip it right in the bud and get it out of there, and that's why.

00:22:40

You know, I.

00:22:41

Had my original.

00:22:42

Cases of it on like my 4th flush.

00:22:45

My third flush just to the point where it wasn't a problem to lose the tub, so I'd toss it immediately.

00:22:50

Yeah, but three days later.

00:22:52

You know another tub shows a little bit.

00:22:53

And that one's.

00:22:54

Gotta go and slowly but sure.

00:22:56

Really just chipped away at and I I'm managed to contain it OK and now I'm moving to the new home.

00:23:00

I've isolated it so I I just got my my ape and then my penis envy growing now and then a few more months going on in the jars, but we can.

00:23:09

Get to that.

00:23:10

Yeah, so trichoderma is that.

00:23:13

Is that how you think it's pronounced OK?

00:23:14

Yeah, I think so.

00:23:15

All right, so you're saying that the mold, once it enters one of the tubs.

00:23:18

It's kind of airborne and can contaminate adjacent cultivating areas or fruiting tubs or whatever you have going on.

00:23:26

Totally it.

00:23:27

I mean it it.

00:23:28

It'll happen quick too and that's why, like one thing, I'm really careful about is leaving food out in our.

00:23:32

Place 'cause it's just.

00:23:34

The ordinary house mold, you know.

00:23:35

And I like I like I said, man, I've done a ton of research into it, so I learned a bit, but it's still relatively UN.

00:23:42

Definitive on the.

00:23:45

The various sources.

00:23:46

Some people are really dramatic about it.

00:23:48

Some are a little more LAX.

00:23:49

One trick I did learn to isolate it.

00:23:52

When you just need to finish out a maybe a flush like you're a few days away.

00:23:57

Uh, if you use hydrogen peroxide and spray it on it, it'll stop that from growing any further for at least a day, maybe 2.

00:24:05

And it doesn't.

00:24:06

It doesn't kill your whole thing of.

00:24:07

Mushrooms and.

00:24:08

First name.

00:24:08

Or even the.

00:24:09

Ones that it it hit, so it's a good way to kind of.

00:24:12

At least hold on long enough to pick your.

00:24:15

You know your tub clean and then toss.

00:24:17

It after very cool.

00:24:18

Alright, that is that's valuable info.

00:24:21

You're very welcome.

00:24:22

Definitely so Felix I want to jump to you man.

00:24:26

You have also been busy in the in the lab in the workshop.

00:24:30

What are you working with?

00:24:32

Well you got growing these days.

00:24:33

Right now I have a tub of.

00:24:37

A white teacher that's on its third flush and then two tubs of blue meanies.

00:24:42

One is on its second flush and when it's on its.

00:24:46

But I I haven't really done a full proper cultivation.

00:24:50

I kind of got brought into.

00:24:51

This in reverse.

00:24:53

Yeah, I think you remember from my bachelor party.

00:24:55

Andrew showed up at my house with a little Brahmin bowl that was packed with stuff.

00:25:00

So you've mastered.

00:25:01

You've mastered this small footprint workshop like you've using Rahman bowls and smaller tubs and you're still getting healthy flushes, right?

00:25:11

Yeah yeah, so my I, I I I have shoebox is and and they usually produce about a uh announce to announce and a half for flush on the first large and then subsequently smaller batches and plus is 2 and three.

00:25:19

Hell yeah.

00:25:25

So I've had a lot of luck.

00:25:27

I don't understand.

00:25:28

All I'm really doing is is misting and fanning that's?

00:25:31

But yeah, it's working dude.

00:25:33

Well, I mean the the hard work is is up front.

00:25:36

You know making sure that you get strong, healthy mycelium.

00:25:38

So fortunately Andrew kind of, you know, threw you a bone and got you.

00:25:41

Started but nonetheless man.

00:25:43

Just consider yourself lucky.

00:25:45

You know not having contamination, having healthy flushes, that's just luck.

00:25:49

I'm sure a lot of it is you, not you know, spitting on it.

00:25:52

Or you know, leaving it near the litter box and stuff, but you know ultimately, it's there's some luck.

00:25:56

So actually.

00:25:58

So my shoebox is sat in.

00:26:00

The kitchen next to the trash can.

00:26:04

Maybe I'm wrong.

00:26:05

Maybe it's just pure luck.

00:26:07

It's pure luck at it.

00:26:08

It's yeah, it's just fortuitous circumstances bad, but I did have a couple of tons of contamination.

00:26:14

OK, one had these little white balls and I just took a spoon and.

00:26:18

Just scooped it all.

00:26:19

Out and then the other one started with the beginnings of.

00:26:23

Try and trick or whatever the **** you're doing.

00:26:26

Hold it.

00:26:28

You know what?

00:26:28

Talking about and Andrew was like dude, toss it, wear a hazmat suit, put it in the back outside of the house and then just blow it up and burn it.

00:26:37

So like 'cause you know he he got scarred with his tongue.

00:26:40

He has quite a few of them and I just had like 3 or 4 going at once.

00:26:44

So so for me like that that.

00:26:46

Would have been just completely.

00:26:49

Devastating to my batches.

00:26:51

Yeah, no, that's a that's really good info that you know once it's in the room that you really need to be careful about letting it spread, so that's a it's a good good tip.

00:27:00

So Felix at this point are you.

00:27:02

Are you working with anything to grow your own mushrooms going forward?

00:27:07

Or you just kind of working with what you've been given and keeping your flushes going?

00:27:11

So I've I've been working.

00:27:12

In reverse, like I said, MU started.

00:27:14

Just, you know, gave me.

00:27:15

A couple of of sub boxes.

00:27:17

Just ready to go where all you have.

00:27:18

To do is Dustin.

00:27:20

I'm sorry.

00:27:22

Misting fan yeah, then the next time he came over with the substrate with it with my steelium and everything and then he just directed me to assemble the balls my the the sub boxes myself and then the third time he just gave me I went and picked up all the shoot at his house came to mind.

00:27:38

And just did it all on my own this.

00:27:41

Saturday, I'm learning to inoculate.

00:27:43

Uhm, so he's been pretty.

00:27:44

Smart like you guys know me.

00:27:45

You know, I'm pretty like lazy and and and like low risk high reward.

00:27:49

Kind of thing.

00:27:50

So yeah, like just missed and found nothing gonna go wrong then I got hooked and then slowly up and learning the steps in reverse.

00:27:57

I love it, do you?

00:27:58

He was growing those blue meanies for me.

00:28:00

Uh, which worked out really well 'cause I didn't have any space, so I was.

00:28:03

Really pumped, we got to have.

00:28:04

Those come to life, but there's another blue meanie and it's another you know, like.

00:28:10

Type of mushroom in the hierarchy.

00:28:11

It's the pants cyan.

00:28:14

Another psilocybin.

00:28:14

I I'm not.

00:28:16

Yeah, yeah exactly.

00:28:17

And and it's it's stronger than your typical.

00:28:20

I don't think it's quite like a flying saucer, but it's definitely stronger than you.

00:28:24

Your psylocybe expenses, so I'll have to look into that one, see how hard it.

00:28:30

Is to grow just.

00:28:31

Your standard psilocybin cubensis, so you will go from 1 from .14 to .42%. OK so from from like your B plus at a point 14 to like a .40.

00:28:43

Two through your penis.

00:28:44

The flying saucers have 1.78 so it's more than triple the amount. Oh wow.

00:28:53

Let's go to space, boys.

00:28:56

Boy block off the week.

00:28:59

I'm gonna dabble.

00:29:01

Very lightly when when we try those holy crap.

00:29:05

Uh, one gram hero.

00:29:06

Dose my God I?

00:29:08

I was going to say I wanna go soft and take an 8 but yeah.

00:29:13

You know?

00:29:14

I'm going to dip my toe in that.

00:29:17

Water very carefully.

00:29:18

Right?

00:29:19

So I've got my basement is done.

00:29:22

You moved so I think at this point we can pick up some of our cultivate our lab playing around cultivation.

00:29:30

Now that we have some space and we're not like in transit.

00:29:34

Yeah, I've actually got like.

00:29:36

Probably 20 quart jars in the works right now, so creeper that and actually hero which is a cross between albino penis envy.

00:29:44

Bureau and Amazonian Felix is really excited about that one, so I am too.

00:29:49

Love you.

00:29:50

And then I've been starting to pick up from Spore works.

00:29:53

I told you, switch that up.

00:29:54

So I've got like 8 jars worth of penis envy, uncut.

00:29:59

And then I'm gonna do, probably.

00:30:02

Try out their app or something next.

00:30:04

Just tons of phallic mushrooms growing Venus, envy albino, penis envy, Peters envy, uncut, just ***** all around.

00:30:12

Exactly why is it called on the cut like like does it look like it?

00:30:17

It doesn't look on circumstance like a European with the substrate looking like.

00:30:21

A little half oh.

00:30:22

Yeah, so I've I've started to dabble with.

00:30:27

So we we've.

00:30:28

Discussed lemon tech ad nauseam between us three and you've done an.

00:30:31

Episode on it.

00:30:32

And so the amazing yeah.

00:30:34

So the amazing thing about it for me is that it it's super quick and it's super intense.

00:30:39

The drawback of that is that because it's so intense on the front end, you really it's not that long of a trip.

00:30:46

For me at least, like I think when I lemon Tek, it'll last two to.

00:30:49

Three hours tops on it if it's.

00:30:51

Uh, a good day for four hours.

00:30:53

So what I've been doing is I'm taking my lemon Tek and then the same amount in dry so that I have that that big push up front with with the already like preprocess so this I even and then my body is digesting the other half natural so that at the back end I'm still getting good dose of visuals.

00:31:12

A nice body sensation, thus making the trip stronger.

00:31:16

At the front end and longer overall.

00:31:18

Did they meet in the middle anywhere and you freaked the **** out?

00:31:22

Or do they kind of like stagger it?

00:31:23

Who's this?

00:31:25

It's more like a it's not.

00:31:27

So much a freak about having more of a.

00:31:28

Casual wave on the highway.

00:31:31

Dude that puppy yeah maybe like waving back.

00:31:33

Yeah yeah it's been working out really well like that.

00:31:37

I had to jump back on here.

00:31:39

One thing that cannot be cured by mushrooms or meditation.

00:31:43

Browns Fanhood Cleveland sports.

00:31:46

It's upsetting, my Browns are just ruining my my Sundays so if anybody knows ustrated mushroom that can cure Cleveland Browns fanhood the Blues please let me know.

00:31:57

Or just a mushroom that makes them win.

00:32:00

I'll take that too.

00:32:01

Yeah, that would really solve the.

00:32:03

The deeper rooted.

00:32:04

Issue, right?

00:32:05

The just lack of any prosperity in the city of.

00:32:07

Cleveland for sports.

00:32:09

Yeah, it's I don't know that I can take it either.

00:32:12

'cause it.

00:32:14

It's the negativity is contagious and it's like a poison in this house, but I need you to go into it thinking positively and not just you all Cleveland Browns fans.

00:32:26

There's decades and decades of letdowns and just slow more lows than you can possibly wrap your head around.

00:32:33

And that is fact.

00:32:35

I mean that there's there's no skating around that, but if you're one that believes in the power of positive thinking.

00:32:38

Yeah, unfortunately.

00:32:42

Thing you know, if you think negative thoughts you attract negative and I just think all of Browns they remember their history very vividly and they're just constantly waiting for the shoe to drop.

00:32:58

Yeah, it's it's tough.

00:32:59

I mean, we've had so many lows and.

00:33:02

I said it's now.

00:33:03

Just to you know, if every time you open up the front door or somebody punched you in the face like you would expect to be punched in the face when you open up the front door front door.

00:33:11

Being every time we frickin play a football game.

00:33:15

Yeah, and it's not even when you first open the front door.

00:33:17

It's like OK, you think the coast is clear, it's.

00:33:19

Punched from the side.

00:33:21

Yeah, somebody comes from your blind side and sucker punches you.

00:33:25

Well, like our friend drew, I mean like the Browns will have an amazing play, amazing catch, a touchdown interception, whatever, he will not celebrate for five whole seconds.

00:33:37

And like everyone in the bar is celebrating everyone like everyone ready here.

00:33:40

Is like is there a flag?

00:33:42

Yeah, he's being real.

00:33:43

That's he's been hurt too many times.

00:33:46

Yeah, and I will say spending time with other Browns fans.

00:33:50

It helps me even understand you more because I I see you like every Sunday so I know what I know which goes on in your head.

00:33:58

But seeing other people react with the same, just historical ties to them and the negativity is.

00:34:08

It's it's crazy, I feel bad.

00:34:10

You should feel bad, yeah, we're worthy of your pity for sure.

00:34:14

I think you know raising our daughter as a Browns fan.

00:34:17

It's maybe not the most responsible paternal gesture on my part.

00:34:21

You know, maybe I should raise her a Bucs fan and you know she'll have prosperity from the onset.

00:34:26

Well, she still have the best of both worlds, right?

00:34:29

You know, and she'll have, you know, just the gravy train with Tom Brady, which again I still feel guilty having him on my team.

00:34:37

I feel like we're cheating somehow.

00:34:38

It is kind of cheating, but yeah, go ahead.

00:34:41

Well, he was cheating back in the day.

00:34:43

And and then you know you have the dedication.

00:34:47

You know the building, you know a team from scratch building a team from Owen 16 just a few years ago.

00:34:56

And to achieve like a Super Bowl win, it's going to be way more sweeter than.

00:35:02

When you say it's gonna as if it's going to happen, I appreciate your optimism.

00:35:05

Browns 2025

00:35:06

But hey, Browns 2025 the hashtag could be resurrected. I put it to bed in hopes that we would be there sooner, which is really unrealistic. I'm going to have to bring the hashtag.

00:35:17

When I think that #originated in 2016.

00:35:20

It's been a while. It was probably before 2016 because 2016 was the year that Cleveland prospered. The Indians well Ripi Indians, the baseball team, the guardians.

00:35:31

That is, when that is when it green because you brought the sign to the stadium around 2025 I think is a very first edition of it.

00:35:31

They went to the World Series.

00:35:36

Browns 2025

00:35:41

Well, if we bring it back, I mean yeah I have to say it's my prognostication and as much as I'd like for it to happen sooner if it happens at all, I will love it and I'll embrace it as much as I possibly can.

00:35:54

I mean, you made the newspaper, was it well?

00:35:57

Who was it?

00:35:57

Was the New York Post or USA TODAY?

00:35:58

USA TODAY I think yeah.

00:36:01

They printed it so and they printed your photo.

00:36:02

They did.

00:36:04

And a little story about you.

00:36:06

So they would definitely re, you know, resurrect it as well.

00:36:11

I mean, it feels good to be famous, so whether that happens in the.

00:36:14

Form of print media which is.

00:36:16

Kind of different whatever.

00:36:19

So we had songs about MC.

00:36:22

We had several iterations of MC songs.

00:36:24

Our cat, if you've been listening, he tries to interrupt the podcast.

00:36:27

He's constantly running amok.

00:36:29

He makes our lives a lot more challenging.

00:36:31

It's a nice.

00:36:32

Way to.

00:36:32

Put it was.

00:36:33

Amok the word you were trying to use.

00:36:35

Run amok

00:36:36

You the other day you're like, I really like this word.

00:36:39

It's from like the olden times like.

00:36:40

It's definitely not amok.

00:36:42

Like in England, like people of England.

00:36:44

Oh yeah, well, what was that word?

00:36:46

Uhm rubbish.

00:36:47

Like think about this.

00:36:48

Rubbish, I don't think anybody. First of all, anybody under the age of 80 in the US has ever said rubbish, but I think it's much more prevalent.

00:36:56

In like the UK.

00:36:58

And you know that that part of the world.

00:37:00

So you haven't used it yet.

00:37:02

I have it but I.

00:37:03

I'm waiting for.

00:37:03

Feel like it needs to be used.

00:37:05

With with some sort.

00:37:06

If it's rubbish, it's rubbish.

00:37:09

Well, the refs today were rubbish, they were beyond rubbish.

00:37:10

Oh, thanks for bringing.

00:37:13

Thanks for bringing this full circle to my sadness Browns.

00:37:15

I mean, I had I had to, you know, connect it.

00:37:18

So back to distraction MC MC songs.

00:37:22

We had several MC songs.

00:37:24

He's not the highlight of our family, but he inspires me to write music and it's not great music, but we've we've celebrated that music on this podcast.

00:37:33

But now we've shifted gears because our daughter is the highlight of every moment.

00:37:38

Of our lives.

00:37:39

And she's worthy of these songs.

00:37:40

Yes, we have songs about bouncing her around.

00:37:43

We have songs.

00:37:44

Things about her being cute and the song that I really like the best.

00:37:48

It's about.

00:37:50

Bowel movements excavate that poopy.

00:37:54

That's the song.

00:37:55

I have a.

00:37:55

I have a little rendition.

00:37:57

I haven't told you about.

00:37:58

Oh **** is there another new verse like Thunder rolled?

00:38:00

As they excavate.

00:38:05

Oh wait, why am I blanking the boogie at the boogies?

00:38:07

Hang on let's.

00:38:07

Let's go with.

00:38:10

Oh the the snot sucker.

00:38:11

That's not soccer.

00:38:14

Joe, my wife, siphon snot from our daughter's nose with Glee. She enjoys it.

00:38:19

Well, I'm I mean she hates it but she loves when it's over with and I get the joy knowing that I helped her out.

00:38:21

She hates it.

00:38:25

So this song it has a little country twist to it.

00:38:29

Here is excavate the poopy.

00:38:33

We are going to.

00:38:34

Excavate the poop and if there's pee will get that too.

00:38:41

'cause the yellow turned blue.

00:38:44

We're going to clean that little toe.

00:38:46

She use a baby wipe or two, then let it dry for.

00:38:52

Umm, and let that to she would do.

00:38:58

Very nice, bravo.

00:39:00

And if anyone does not know what yellow turn blue means, any new parents, new parents to be there, and the diapers, there is a yellow line that runs down the middle, the middle of it. And when it's wet it turns blue and it could be wet from #1 or #2.

00:39:04

How are you?

00:39:20

Yeah, I didn't know this until I was responsible for the the diaper changing.

00:39:25

Yeah, we could add that in somehow.

00:39:27

102

00:39:27

Is it one or is it 2?

00:39:30

Oh be be on the lookout for a.

00:39:35

The version revision 2.0 of excavate that grouping coming soon. Oh, I did want to mention we what was the mushroom that we cooked with that was delicious.

00:39:45

King oysters.

00:39:46

King oyster

00:39:46

He was trumpet or Trump.

00:39:48

They were like go by two different names.

00:39:49

OK, so we got those at the farmers market and they were awesome.

00:39:51

We did.

00:39:53

Yeah, they're really good.

00:39:54

Where did you?

00:39:55

Put soy sauce and a couple other things.

00:39:57

Yeah, so you slice them lengthwise and we agreed that it needs to be smaller bites otherwise.

00:40:03

It's a little chewy if you.

00:40:05

Go the whole length of it.

00:40:05

Yeah, and they're probably a little thicker than when they need it to be, so slice them 1/4 inch.

00:40:13

And you throw them in a pan, cook them five minutes on either side on both sides to get them nice and brown.

00:40:21

You might need to do them in batches 'cause you don't want to overcrowd your pan and then once they are all done cooking you put them all back into the pan.

00:40:29

And then you add in this sauce that I made from soy sauce butter.

00:40:37

A little saracha some honey and ginger and you whisk that all up.

00:40:44

You pour it over and you take it right off the heat.

00:40:46

And yeah, voila so good.

00:40:47

That was delicious.

00:40:48

And yeah, make sure you chunk it up because I think the smaller the bits were the the more concentrated with the sauce they were like.

00:40:55

Kind of like a tofu absorption process.

00:40:57

Agree though, yeah, when they were thinner they.

00:40:59

Could absorb more flavors.

00:41:01

Sweet well I wanted to mention that and we don't have that mushroom to profile this week.

00:41:05

We'll save it for next, but thanks so much for being here.

00:41:09

Boo at.

00:41:10

In my view.

00:41:11

My mommy bouette

00:41:13

Daddy Boo.
